Katie-Lou CAN see

Categories: News

I wrote last week how disappointing her eye tests were. It didnt seem she reacted to any of the visual stimulation that she was being tested with. I and play nurse Margaret (she’s a star) have been doing our own tests and she definitely will look at moving objects. Ive been using LED apps on my iphone and ipad and which scroll large black and white text across the screen. Black and white is apparently the 1st colours babies react to and we are beginning to understand, terribly,  that maybe we need to help Katie-Lou relearn some  or maybe even most things from scratch. Again, when she’s calm and the ward is quiet, she will react when I put the moving text in front of her, not always and noticeably better on her left hand side but she DEFINITELY is looking at it. I make sure she cant hear me so I know she’s not looking toward sound. Its noticeable that her closing her eyes when asked, reacting to visual stimulation only really happens when things are quiet, you talk softly, up close to her and she’s relaxed.

Andy can I suggest u try wee see app look on you tube it’s a great stimulant for vision great news. My daughter has CVI (cortical visual impairment) when the eye it’s self is good but the brain cannot process what the eye sees. Torches up against a black background lie an umbrella over Katie-Lou when the rooms dark and shine a touch, red LED lights also metallic shinny paper space blankets the ones u wrap your self in after a run great for stimulating vision.
